I've been wanting to paint our door yellow for quite some time, as mentioned here back in August of last year. It wasn't really a priority for us, though. Last week I randomly mentioned it to my husband again, and he replied, "You want to do it this weekend?" ....uhhh. Yes!! So off to the hardware store we went.
Here are some before photos of our porch. There's not a whole lot going on there, but it's still a work in progress. As you can see, our house is a charcoal grey with white trim.
Now picking the right shade of yellow was the hardest part. We brought home at least 10 different paint swatches and taped them all up on the door. We looked at them in different light and from every angle. It was pretty overwhelming for me, but Tyson decided on one right away. I was really apprehensive about the color Tyson chose. I thought it was going to be too "macaroni and cheese." In the end, though, I trusted his decision and told him we were going with his pick.On his way to get the paint, I actually looked up to see what color John and Sherry (from Young House Love) used in this post. Imagine my surprise (and relief!) to read that the color they chose was the exact same color Tyson picked and was on his way to get. What are the odds right?
Oh, and in case you're wondering, it's Full Sun by Valspar. We went with the exterior paint + primer. I still can't believe we ended up with the exact same color. Tyson obviously has great taste.

We plan on removing the storm door completely, but that will have to wait for another weekend. Tyson has to touch up the paint on the trim around the door and wants to wait until he has time to make it look good. ;) After we are done I'll take more photos.
I think it looks so great with the grey and white. Our house definitely needed a pop of color and I think this is just right. Good job, Tyson! Now we just need a cute little bistro set and our porch will be about done!
